TEACHER SUPPLY BASKETS

Each year we will support early-career educators by supplying them with a basket of "goodies" for their room.  Each recipient has the opportunity to supply a list of "goodies" specific for her room.

We also want to continue to support these ladies throughout the school year.  Here are some suggestions to do so:
  • be available to support through phone calls and visits,
  • help with lesson plans and bulletin board ideas,
  • offer advice on classroom management and parent-teacher relations
  • provide support in any way that is appropriate and practical

For more ideas on how to support early-career educators, go to zetastatedkg.org/see.html

SFA: Schools for Africa
  • Benefit nearly 5 million children, with a special emphasis on girls,                   orphans, and children living in extreme poverty
  • Increase access to quality education in 11 of Africa's neediest countries
  • Building and rehabilitating almost 1000 schools
  • Training nearly 100,000 teachers
  • Supply notebooks, pens, desks, chairs, and other essential school materials
  • Make sure schools have clean, safe drinking water and separate bathrooms      for girls and boys
  • Create schools that offer a protective environment

Examples of what your money can do:

  • $68 could provide a classroom desk.  Quality desks help keep young students in school and ensure a quality learning environment.
  • $295 could provide a three-day training for 28 education administrators to develop education budgets and plans for a school district serving 150,000 children.
  • $695 could fund a coordination plan for a community to address barriers that prevent vulnerable children from going to school-to help increase school attendance among children with disabilities, girls, and other marginalized groups.
  • $2105 could rehabilitate a classroom serving 50 children, including floornad roof repairs to ensure children can learn in a safe and comfortable space.
  • $26,316 could provide reading and math textbooks for 3570 elementary school children.
  • $52,632 could provide a water tank and sanitation facilities for one school of 1500 students and 20 teachers, including separate latrines for boys and girls
